Extra Credit

Would you take this class again with Dr. Chris? Would you take another class with Dr. Chris? Would you recommend a friend take this course or another course with Dr. Chris?

Yes I would take this class again with Doc Chris. I also plan on taking his other class before I graduate. He has a waiting list of like almost 40 people trying to override one of his classes at the moment. So its definitely a popular class but I will take it before I graduate. This is my first class with Doc Chris and ever since week one I have been promoting it all over campus and telling my friends they HAVE to take his class. So to answer the question yes I would recommended a friend to take this or another course with Doc Chris.

December 1st Reflection

Today in class we caught up on our blogs and Doc Chris went around making sure everyone was on the right page. He also said that the minimum amount of blogs were twenty. He expects for everyone to have more than 20 blogs, showing that we have done our assignments this semester. Thankfully I have my blogs up and ready for review. Doc Chris will be happy. This is my first blog page and I am very happy that Doc Chris had his students make one. I am now motivated to blog out of class.

Today in class Doc Chris also talked about our final and what he wants the final product to contain. The final has to have five pictures, five videos, and three sounds, there is also a questionnaire and extra credit section.

Final: Sight, Sound and Motion #3

 MOTION

This is the motion portion of my final. Here I am going to share five videos with you describing them in detail.

 Video
This video is one of my favorites demonstrations of motion. I took this video during one of my cab rides through Baltimore City. I like this video because I am in the cab capturing the motion with the buildings , streetlights, signs etc... in the background. I also noticed that most of the buildings are red.

Video 2
I chose this video for the motion portion of my final because I found the idea behind it very fun. I took this video while on the Marc train one early morning from North Carolina. It was about 6:40 AM and the sun had just started to rise. In this video if you look closely and out the window you can see the sky going from dark to brighter.

Video 3
The third video is at my aunt's birthday party. Here my cousin Lakeiya and I are singing one of MJ sounds and CJ my other cousin is the dancer. We had a lot of fun doing this. In the video there is also sound from the people in the background laughing and singing along. The movement from us dancing and having fun in this video is an example of motion.

Video 4
This is a good video for the motion part. Here some of my family members are in our hotel at Disney Playing the Wii. The Wii has a variety of games and one of them is dancing. Its great because you get to learn new dance moves while being active and playing video games.  There is motion when my family members are dancing and having a good time.

Video 5
I like this video because one of my friends is challenged to hold 6 dice on a Popsicle stick, for at least 3 seconds. There is motion in this video through the movements of the people. Also Bryan trying to get all of the dice onto one stick shows motion. There's also motion at the end when everyone jumps of excitement

Final Questionnaire

1. Are you glad you took this class and please explain why you are glad and not because I am a wonderful person? No sucking up!

I am sincerely very happy that I took this class. Most importantly I can use all that I have learned in my major and in life experiences. Doc Chris not only makes learning fun he also makes it extremely informative. Teachers that can teach and have their students learn through hands on are truly gifted. Doc Chris does this. I am being very realistic when I say these things. All that i have learned in Doc Chris class I feel as if in reality it would take two semesters to learn. However, because of Doc Chris’s teaching skills and ability to teach hands on I have learned a lot this semester. I am very happy that I took this class. Many students around campus speak about Doc Chris as a teacher, mentor, leader and educator. He excels well in all of those categories. Everything I was told about his class and of him as a teacher is true.  At the end I was rewarded with more because of the way he teaches. I really enjoyed taking this class. And from the bottom of my heart I mean everything that i said. Doc Chris is not only a teacher he’s master in his skill.

2. What did you learn that you did not know before coming into this class?
... What can you do that you could not do before taking this class?

Before coming to this class I knew very little about Multimedia.  One of the things I learned this year is three point lighting.  Three point lighting illustrates important lighting concepts that is very important. The main point is to get even distribution of light. Therefore three types of lighting is "key" to this process.
         - Key Lighting
        - Fill Lighting
           - Back Lighting

KEY LIGHT
- Key light functions as the main source of illumination for ones scene.
- 45 degree angle from where the camera is a safe spot to set up the key light

FILL LIGHT
- Also 45 degrees from the camera... and the key light.
- Less in tense than the key light

BACK LIGHT
- Helps subject pop out
-Set up so the light is above the frame
- Low intesity
-Shine down on the subject to create a rim of light around the shoulders and head

I got this information from Youtube.

I also learned how to use more social media websites such as google plus, Facebook, YouTube, and twitter. During this semester Doc Chris stressed that we had to present our work with different medias. I learned how to make better power points use them in a variety of ways. Like adding them to  Google plus, creating links so that others can view them online etc.

3. Evaluate your group's performance, your own personal growth in this course and please give your opinion on the direction of this class.

Performance wise my group had some ups and downs. However, at the end we always came together. Joyce, Gina and I took the leadership roles to help motivate and drive our group. Personally I think I grew as a leader. As a group our outlines became more informative and flowed well together. We worked on numerous power point presentation which I think was one of our stronger points when presenting because everyone had a chance to participate.

Working as a group thought me a lot of life lesson. I learned that this was just a taste of what it is like to work in a group. In the real world and possibly my work field some days what I practice and learn now is what I will have to reuse. The direction of the class went well this semester. We worked on a lot of team building and personal skills while learning.

4. Finally, you must evaluate me. Be fair but be truthful. Have I been helpful, did I listen to concerns that you had, have I tried to work with you through individual and group situations? Do you like the way the class has been conducted? Do you understand the purpose of putting people on trial? Here is hint, it is not to embarrass you.

Doc Chris is extremely helpful and always there when you need he. He allows for his students to text and call him so there should not be any excuses if you do not understand something. Doc Chris also made promises and proved them at the end ALWAYS. Because he kept his promise he also expectes a lot from us as students to do our part. He took out concerns into consideration and tired to make whatever we were doing work for all.

I truly liked the way class was conducted. The reason for this is because Doc Chris allowed for his students to learn in an informative atmosphere while also learning hands one.

As time went on I learned that trials weren't created to embarrass but to teach us. Doc varied in every class. However, after each there was something that we learned.

5. Now that you have experienced Edutainment and convergence as a teaching method that helps you learn, what do you think?

Doc Chris is one of the most amazing teachers I have yet to have. He not only teaches well but continues to motivate his students. Its nice to know that he cares for his students inside and out of class academically. He is there to make sure we stay on top of things and do our best. Most importantly he is there to educate and help advance or learning and studies.

Final: Sight, Sound and Motion #2

   Sound

As mentioned before I am going to use a variety of sights, sounds, and motions for my final. Here is the sound part of my final.

I choose this video because Doc Chris not only demonstrates sound but sight and motion as well. In this video Doc Chris is dancing in class. This is one Doc Chris teaching strengths because he uses different techniques to teach. He could simply write notes on the board; however, here he is demonstrating sight, sound and motion by dancing. The sound in the background is the music playing and the voices laughing, speaking and cheering Doc Chris on.

I chose this video because it demonstrates the sound portion of this final well. In this video I am at a Jay-Z and Kayne West concert in Greensboro North Carolina. Sound wise you can here Jay-Z rapping in the background with the amazing beat his sound has. Also the lighting in this video is very interesting. It has different shades ad colors of lights.

This video was taken at my aunts 47th birthday party. At her birthday party we had a karaoke machine where all that wanted to got to share some talent and have a good laugh. Here are some of my family and friends singing to Beyonce's song Put A Ring On It. There is a lot of movement and colorful clothing in this video.

Final Sight, Sounds and Motions.

 SIGHT FINAL

In this final I want to share a mixture of sight, sounds and motions. I decided to mix things up a little and use class and outside of class videos. First lets begin with pictures that completes the sight part of this final.

In order to really notice what this picture is of one has to look closely. This picture was taken at Disney World this summer. We visited numerous parks and this one was taken specifically in Disney's Safari. The colors range from a variety of greens. The sun and shade add to the color variation. As you can see on the far right some leafs are light green because of the reflection of the sun. Others are more of a darker green because they are in the shade. There is also a variety of textures and shapes of the leafs. Some leafs are pointy or round. Overall if you look closely this is a women on stilts with leaf designs leaning against the tree. Her face is also painted in a dark shade of green to help add to the camouflage
This second image is of my church. I a attend Seventh Days Adventist church. This weekend my family came from Trinidad to celebrate with my trini-american family for my aunts 47th birthday party. The day before the party we all went to church. The church is very beautiful. I love the bright colors and pretty lights. Anyone is welcome to visit Emmaus Seventh Day Adventist Church!
This picture was taken during Halloween. With me in the middle as an army girl and two other girls on each side dressed up as Sun Drop sodas. Currently in the sun drop commercial there are people dancing to the song Drop It Like It's Hot By Snoop Dogg. That is where they got their costume idea from. The main reason as to why I choose this image is because of the color variation. If you notice in this image there are all types of green shades. In the background there are buildings with a variety of lights.

This picture was taken this weekend at my aunts birthday party. The theme of my aunts 47th birthday party  was the 70's. Here we have some of our family friends that are siblings performing one of Jackson five's hit songs. They called themselves the Jones 4. The party had karaoke machine. This was very fun and creative. The colors that they use are black and white. They dressed similarly for this performance.

This picture was also taken at my aunt's birthday party. My cousin Onika and I thought it would be funny to wear Afros Very 70's right? Here I am wearing a white dress and my cousin Onika really got into the spirit of the party and is wearing a sparkly purple dress. The balloons in the background matches her color scheme.

So I have been inspired and I wanted to share it on my blog. Study abroad applications are due today at Loyola Maryland University and since freshmen year I have wanted to travel Europe. However, as I grew and developed as a person I realized I wanted to go abroad to Spain or France for all the wrong reason. I had heard about the fashion, parties, beauty of both countries and could not wait to apply.

Today I have changed my mind on where I want to go. I want to travel in South East Asia. The reason as to why changed my mind is for a variety of reason. One day I went to watch the news at CNN.com and watched videos. One of the videos I watched touched me. The video spoke about child sex slavery and how Asia practices this horrible trafficking the most. I then went on to do research and found out things about Thailand mainly that I loved and things that I wanted to help mentor and give back to the people.

After evaluating my decision to go abroad to Thailand below are the reasons why.

For many, going abroad may be an overwhelming experience however, for me this is the life that I am most familiar with. I was born and raised in Trinidad, however for the past eight years of my life I have been in boarding school in the United States. As an immigrant, I am used to being sent to a foreign county, assimilating into a new culture, and being far away from home for months on end. By studying abroad in Thailand, I will be doing all of the above as well as furthering my knowledge and understanding of other countries. My ultimate goal is to work for the United Nations, and learning about other cultures and lifestyle will only help me work towards that goal. Based upon my ability to integrate into foreign countries easily, I feel as though I will be a great addition to the Bangkok, Thailand Program.
I have always wanted to submerge myself into a culture that is far different from anything I have ever known. The Bangkok, Thailand program will allow me to experience Thai culture, learn the language, and travel throughout Southeast Asia, all things that I have always dreamed of doing. After this experience I hope to bring back to Loyola’s campus experiences, stories, and an attitude that will only enhance the sense of community found at Loyola. By taking part in the study abroad program I will take what I have learned and use it academically, culturally, and most importantly, for my future.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is an annual holiday celebrating the harvest. During this time families prepare meals that mostly include turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and much more!!! It is a time in which many families in the US and some in Canada cook and enjoy festive meals. In this blog I want to show you some pictures and videos from Thanksgiving day with my family. Since I am from Trinidad and Tobago where Thanksgiving is not celebrated, when I am in the US for this Holiday I rotate each year between my American family and my Trinidadian-American family that reside in Brooklyn New York. This year I went to Maratha's Vineyard with my American family and had a festive time.  For Thanksgiving dinner we made an 18 pound turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, sweet potatoes, asparagus, and homemade cranberry sauce (mhm soo yummy). For the desert portion of the meal we made homemade cranberry and apple crisp, pumpkin pie, apple pie and a great blueberry pie. To top it off my mom got vanilla ice-cream and whip-cream.  This is my 8th Thanksgiving celebrated here in the United States and I'm truly thankful to be around such a festive celebration and good food! Below is a video of my family giving a shout out the Doc Chris Multimedia class and sharing what they are thankful for. Also pictures.  Enjoy!

                        HAPPY THANKSGIVING

                         GIVING THANKS

I AM THANKFUL

I am thankful for a lot of things in life. Most importantly I am thankful for the moms in my life. I have three women that have been mother figures to me in life. My birth mom in Trinidad named Lesile-Ann Prince, my American mom named Carlene Gatting and my aunt that lives here in the U.S Kathleen Prince. Each of these women have thought me valid life lesson and pushed me to reach furthest. I am thankful for all three of them.

Birth mom, Lesile-Ann Prince

American Mom, Carlene Gatting

My Aunt, Kathleen Prince

I am also thankful for being able to move to US and chase my dream and experience in order to have a successful career. Being able to attend boarding has been an opportunity of a life time and I am very happy for that. Boarding school helped ground my independence and helped me grow as individual. Culturally moving to the United States and automatically attending boarding school was tough. However, as time went on it quickly became the best aspect of my life. I'm a truly blessed for those that believed in me.

I am also the oldest of three brothers. My brothers mean the world to me and hold a very special place in my heart. I am thankful for having them in my life. There are no words to express the love I have for these boys. I see them having a successful future and every time I get to go back home to Trinidad and I see them I smile and how handsome and well rounded they are developing.

All together I am thankful for life, family, and god.

Hangout Reflection!

Since a couple of us went to Mt. Washington's class location Doc Chris allowed for us to have class at home via Google + hangout. As I said in my last class Doc Chris continues to help us learn and experience different situation in a variety of ways. This google + hangout was one way. It was also a special treat for those of us that went to class that day.

I find it amazing that we can have class this way. Technology is constantly on the rise. In Doc Chris's class I have learned so much about social media and different ways of learning. It amaze me each class. Below are some pictures from the Hangout.

In class today we discussed how the next couple of weeks are going to go down. We are going to be dealing with internships, a book, and our FINAL EXAM! After today's class there is nothing I think we need to work on. I am excited to go to Panera Bread for class next week Thursday! Thanks to Doc Chris in advance.

Reflection November 3rd

                                          CHARM CITY CUPCAKES

Today Doc Chris had class off campus in Mt. Washington Maryland. This was such a great there. Sadly not everyone showed up but those of us that did were in for some great treats. Our first stop was at Charm City Cupcakes. These were my first time having them and they were AMAZING. Doc Chris was also generous to buy for all that wanted some.

MY DELICIOUS VANILLA WITH VANILLA ICING CUPCAKE!!!
Doc Chris making sure everyone gets a cupcake!!!

I just received my cupcake and had to take a picture with Doc Chris. Thanks Doc.

Next we sat in front of and Mt. Washington's Wine Co and did Trials, recorded videos of Doc Chris and discussed about class and what we did that day. Doc Chris also talked about our final, internship opportunity and book. He gave us the layout for the next couple weeks. I can't wait!

Here are some more pictures that I took. I just liked the colors and shapes.

I used this image because I fell in love with the variety of shapes used to create such a beautiful art work.

Here are my classmates working together and learning out of a classroom environment. Doc Chris believes in teaching in a variety of ways. Another reason as to why I enjoy this class.

Overall Today was a great class. I think we need to improve on better communication with as classmates and things will be that much more amazing.

Doc Chris as usual continues to excel as a professor every single class.

Reflection October 27th

Today's was one of my FAVORITES. This is hard for me to say since I sincerely really enjoy every class I have been to so far. In spirits of Halloween Doc Chris had a thriller theme class today. However, we could wear whatever costume we wanted. I wore and Indian hat. Some of my favorites were Phill as the cook and las muejas as Mexican women with straw hats I also really enjoyed Doc Chris judge costume.

Below is a picture of one of my classmates Joyce dressed as Aubrey Hepburn
Today in class we presented and learned about narration, inner orientation of sound, the importance of sound etc. Click on this click and look at our chapter 15 PowerPoint that explains as has examples

Since today was our last day of presentations Doc Chris was nice enough to bring food to class today. He brought bagels with a variety of cream cheese flavors. I LOVED IT!. My other classmates also contributed and brought lots of other yummy goods.

As I mentioned before along with this being class and a day for presentations we also had a thriller them party. With this thriller themed party Doc Chris had us to a Soul Train Line.

Watch the video below

I really enjoy this class and how Doc Chris teaches. I have learned while having fun. Doc Chris comes to class everyday motivated and ready to teach. With his positive attitude we are enthusiastic to learn. I enjoy this class. It is my favorite this semester.

Reflection October 20th

Class was very productive today. This was one of our big presentation days where we had to dress up and give extremely good presentations. Though our group had a variety of technical difficulties we adapted and were still able to present out power points. We presented on a variety of media elements such as duration, sound, and lighting. As mentioned before we had technical difficulties however, Dr. Chris motivated us and showed us many alternative ways to present. For example some of our videos did not work when clicking them from the power point so we posted them on our facebook page and clicked from there. I enjoyed class today and cannot wait for our Thriller party next week.

Mid Term Part 2

1. Are you glad you signed up for this class?

I am very happy I signed up for this class. Doc Chris teaches in a way that not only motivates his students but allows for one to have fun while learning. I personally think this is a great stratergy because it allows for a variety of learning types to grasp a good understanding of this course. This is clear because in my group we all learn differently and because of Doc Chris's teaching, interacting and motivation skills is work applies to us all.  Also I have had three hour classes in the past and to speak for myself and some of my classmates it is hard to pay attention to your teacher the entire time. However, with Doc Chris class seems to go by way faster and I am involved with what we are learning or doing in class. Doc Chris also teaches us how to work on one thing in a verity of ways. I really admire this because I am learning a lot more this way. I am very happy to be in this class. It is more than what I had expected and I appreciate every moment of it.

2. What did you learn that you did not know before coming into this class?
Before coming to this class I did not know much about any other website other than google search and facebook. Sad but true. After the first week of Doc Chris class he assigned for us all to have twitter, facebook, blogger and google plus accounts. With all these accounts he thought us how to connect and really take advantage of these sites and just being able to adjacent technologically. Also I learned about the idfferent types of liginting. Light is something we have in our everyday life and can sometimes take forgranted. I never knew that lighting had types. In class we learned about

We still have more to learn and cannot wait for what is next.

3. Evaluate your group's performance, your own personal growth in this course and please give your opinion of this class.
My group in the beginning had a very hard time  communicating. However as time went on we got better at this one aspect. As a group we figured out ways in which to divide the assignments and put them together while demonstrating flow and proper understanding. Joyce and I work well as leaders of the group and we reach out to our group members to help and motivate them.

4. Hows the structure of the class? The professor?
The structure of the class is well put together and positive. Doc Chris really knows how to keep our attention in a three hour class. Every class session I leave learning numerous new things. At first using the bombarded amount of new social media was tough however, Doc Chris worked to help us understand and take advantage of all the technological discoveries that are available to us. As a professor Doc Chris is well rounded in this field and knows what he is doing. He is overall a great professor.

Mid Term

First of all I would like to begin by saying this video to the right defines the great connection between the students and Doc Chris. His eagerness to teach and how he enlightens us with his intelligence is demonstrated in this course. This class is called Introduction to Multi-Media. And this project is about Sight, Sound and Motion. Watch this video and see a clear example of these as Doc Chris demonstrates.

This video was taken during this summer at Disney World.
I visited Disney with my family and during one of the Disney
parades the lighting was so well done. As you can see from
the video there is a variation of lights, by its colors, brightness
and size. Along with the amazing lights are sounds. You hear
the sounds of the people in the crowds and also the music of
the bands. The show at Disney was amazing. The lights music,
along with the story really grasped the crowd's attention. I love
Disney. Take a look and see the great, Sights, Sounds and Motions
                         in this video.

This next video has no sight nor motion, and
I filmed this purposely because I wanted it to
be a Sound video. Part of this assignment is
to create a blog demonstrating Sight, Sound
and Motion through videos and images.
Listen to the video and try to guess what
it is. Its the vent on the streets and here I
am pulling my suit case around 6:30 am in
Washington DC walking to my train. Below
these vents are the train stations. The Sound
                                             is very loud and rumbles.

Another Sound video is the one my group and I composed. Here, Gina is creating sound through her voice. There are also Sights such as the green trees, volleyball pit. blue sky, and building. Also we have Motion. The people moving around.

This is a picture of my little brother and I. When looking at this picture there is a lot of natural lighting. The color of the sun really brightens and enhances the color of the tree and sky. You can't tell because of the flash and light contrasting but behind us is a beautiful hilltop view of the ocean and cliffs. Great Sight.

Here is another example of Motion. This summer I wanted to paddle board. And went to a private beach where there weren't a lot of people around so that I could have space and enjoy the beautiful view, smell and Sound of the ocean. Here there is variety of Motions going on.
1. The waves
2. Me paddling
3. The board moving

Though this is a still shot, theses are all the movements that occurred during my time paddling boarding.

In this image both the Sight and Motion is very interesting. I was on a lake just canoeing and relaxing during a beautiful summer day with my family.  Sight- The natural lighting reflects well on the water and branches. Lighting is very important to see the true beauty of this image because at night one would not be able to see such and amazing view. Also depending on the time of the year the lighting also varies. Motion- Again the small waves in the ocean shows Motion and the movement of the canoe which is hard to see
because this is a still image.

This image is of my baby cousin dressed up as Bella from Beauty
And The Beast. By moving her wand back and forth she is
demonstrating Motion.

In this Image my friends and I built a pyramid. Sight, and Motion can be found here.

Motion- Us trying to bulid the prymid. Some people moving. And many are in mid motion

Sight- The different colors of clothing, the grass and buildings.

Reflection for 9/29/11

What did we learn today?
Today in class class we did presentations and learned about The Extended First Field: Color, Structure Color: Function and Composition, and The Tow-dimensional Field: Area.

What do you think about the direction of the class?
The direction of the class is going very well. Everything is coming to together and moving in a very good speed.

What would you like to do more of to improve the class?
I am a little confused on some assignment but now that we have a syllabus I think things will work out better.

How did your group work together today?
My group and I worked very well today. We worked on making videos and presenting out chapter outline to the class. Our outline reflected our hard work.

How did you grow as an individual?
As an individual I think I continue to grow because I am very helpful and want for as a group for us all to excel.

How did Dr. Chris perform today? Specifically, did he work to resolve any problems that you had as a group or individually, did he answer any questions that you had and did he get the information across to you?

Dr Chris as usual always makes class very entertaining. When doing this I have more of a passion for learning. He keeps the class very interested in what he has to teach.

Three Point Lighting Tutorial And Anylasis

Above is a very interesting, descriptive and educational video about three point lighting.
- Three point lighting illustrates important lighting concepts that is very important
- The main point is to get even distribution of light
- Therefore three types of lighting is "key" to this process.
              - Key Lighting
              - Fill Lighting
              - Back Lighting

KEY LIGHT
- Key light functions as the main source of illumination for ones scene.
- 45 degree angle from where the camera is a safe spot to set up the key light

FILL LIGHT
- Also 45 degrees from the camera... and the key light.
- Less in tense than the key light

BACK LIGHT
- Helps subject pop out
-Set up so the light is above the frame
- Low intesity
-Shine down on the subject to create a rim of light around the shoulders and head

The video demonstrates how important having proper lighting is.

Enjoy!

Chapter 4 Summary The Extended First Field: Color

Chapter 4: The Extended First Field Color

Our observe color through the lens of our eye. It reflects the colors we see in our everyday life whether it’s in our home, our environment, in objects and people.

=================================================================
WHAT IS COLOR?
Color is the property of light, not of objects or liquids. (pg. 53)
The eye receives light of wavelength,
It reflects off objects transmitting through fluids.
White light is a reading lamp or the sun that is divided by a prism.
It is a rainbow color of red and purple that is called a spectral colors of wavelength
================================================================
HOW WE PERCEIVE COLOR
Basic Physiological factors
The lens of the eye focuses light on the light-sensitive cells of the retina which is a combination of cones and rods.
Rod and Cone are movement to the light in different ways
Cones need More light to fire than rod
One group is sensitive to the short waves that makes up blues
Second group responds to a medium waves of green
Third to a long wave of the red end of the spectrum

Basically the colors are mixture of wavelengths and the groups are action of bright lights. The cones fire its own signal that results in a high resolution image of color.

The rods do not respond equally across the color spectrum and are, for all practical purposes, colorblind.
Jump to action I gets dark
cones give up lack of adequate light
You don’t see color in dim light but things around you
Rod gives low illumination to deliver a strong signal for the brain to process. You see cones of fuzzy images that fires separately

Before the brain can make us see color, or adapt our vision to a certain level of darkness, the cones and rods must send their signals to neurons, which process the signals and code them into simpler ones. See 4.1 Color Perception

BASIC AESTHETIC PERCEPTION FACTORS

When we look at colored objects, we can detect three basic color sensations:
The color itself—red, green, or blue; the color strength—whether a red is deep and undiluted or looks faded and washed out; and how light or dark it appears to us.
These three basic color sensations we call color attributions. (pg 55)

Color attribute: hue: the Hue is a rainbow of different colors around us.
The hue helps you clarify colors
Colors of the spectrum are pure hues (
Most colors we see are impure (washed out)

Whole color is based on only four hues: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue

All colors are computer or television screen created with only three hue colors from RGB which are: RED, YELLOW, GREEN and BLUE

The computer displays different single one of these color combinations you could recognize it and tell whether it was bluish, reddish, greenish, or yellowish, light or dark.

Color attribute: Saturation, sometimes called chroma (a Greek name,) is a strength or purity of color. It is a highly saturated color looks rich; a color with low saturation looks wash out.

GRAYSCALE
Black and white, or monochrome, video or film shows only achromatic colors which are various steps of brightness. These are steps are created by grayscale steps. There are different variations of gray ranging between white and black.

You can see a shadow not as uniformly dark but in various degrees of transparency.
It’s a light area that displays more of a differentiated bright area into an overexposed white area.

The video camera and a monitor deliver several measuring grayscale.
Video:
work with nine or 12 brightness, or grayscale
television white (a little off white) and television black (not pitch black)
Good Video camera delivers more brightness steps with HDTV
Computer graphic have a pixel that ranges 256, starting with black
254 shade of gray and ending with white

COLOR MODELS: These are all array of hues and degrees of saturation and brightness.
 See color Plate 8

COMPATIBLE COLOR
Color videos are encoded so it can be received and reproduced by black and white television.
Colors have enough brightness contrast that will present  a monochrome video screen in different shades of gray

Black and white video no longer exists only for industrial use and all movies produced in color
There are several reasons
Lightness and darkness elements gives picture its definition.
Black-and-white rendering produces a higher-resolution than a color one.
Monochrome scene has its very own aesthetic that is quite different from a colored one.

HOW WE MIX COLOR
Additive color mixing by shining, or adding, colored lights on top each other.
Subtracting color mixing by mixing paints or combining color filters

The basic colors are: See Color Plate 10

(Sight Sound Motion)

ADDITIVE COLOR MIXING
The primaries of additive mixing are Red, Green, and Blue. These are your additive primaries, or RGB.

Additive mixing with colored light:
Mixing red slide in one slide projector,
Green slide in a second
Blue one in third and overlapping them
partially on the screen

Inside the CRT (cathode ray tube) of a standard television, receiver have three primary colors (Red, Green and Blue Light) that signals activate electron guns and each shoots beams of color dots inside the television screen,

Complementary colors: See color plate 3

SUBTRACTIVE COLOR MIXING
Involves filtering out, or subtracting from white light all colors except the one it displays

COLOR TEMPERATURE
- Our color perception are also influenced by the kind of light under which we experience them." (pg-62)

- "White Light"
-No light is ordinary pure or white
- For example,  midday we see sunlight that has an extemly blush tinge during sunrise or sunset
- Measured by Kelvin degrees (K)

=================================================================
 SURROUNDING COLORS
- The way we pervice color is influenced by surrounding colors
 - Similar Colors
Ex. Someone wearing blue on a set
- Contrast Colors
    - Contrast between foreground and background.
